Hawk has had a passion for good music all his life. He taught himself to play guitar and bass while in High School. After graduating, he bought his first Fender Precession Bass and has found his true passion in music. Since then, it has become his focus to hold down the low end and find his own sound and style.
Through the years, there have been a number of different projects that has taken him through many different styles including Punk, Blues, Rock, Jazz, Prog, Rythem and Blues and Alternative. Most of his efforts have been focused on recording and performing with original local projects like Torored and questionsinletters. Both projects embrace a wide variety of styles requiring him to be pretty versatile and able to change gears at any time. He has played and recorded with nearly a dozen other projects that include Southside Hustle, Red Veda and Sam Grimes. All have made it on the Minneapolis local music scene at one time or another.
If you buy him a drink you will find some of his favorite bass influences are John Paul Jones, Tony Levin and John McVee, but not necessarily in that order. If you buy him two, he may just tell you about the times he performed with national artists Willie Wisely and Phil Solem. Both of whom he can say he proudly supplied the low notes for on separate occasions.
Hawk is now holding the low end for the band Epic. He is a new member of this high caliber band and is excited to be working the Minneapolis/St. Paul club scene. You will have to come see for yourself how well he fits into this well oiled Rock and Roll machine.
